The Los Angeles Chargers have an interesting situation in their wide receiver room. All offseason, the team needed to add another option to help balance things out, but re-signing Keenan Allen gives the team many more options.
Allen is a veteran who is one of the best players in team history. He gives Justin Herbert a proven target he can be confident in. His presence on the roster could allow the Chargers to deal one of their other receivers, and former first-round pick Quentin Johnston could fetch a decent return.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested that Johnston should be put on the trade block, and it's not a bad idea. Johnston has had his moments with the team, but he doesn't look like he'll ever live up to the first-round hype he had coming out of college.
If he has another mediocre season, the Chargers may see his value drop to almost nothing, so with Allen and Ladd McConkey on the roster, followed by high-potential options Tre Harris, Derius Davis and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the team could afford to move him.

If that decision is made, here are three potential trade partners and what a return could look like.
Arizona Cardinals
Chargers receive: 2026 4th-round pick
Cardinals receive: WR Quentin Johnston
The Cardinals are a team looking to make a move up the ladder in the NFC and could use another option for Kyler Murray to throw the ball to. With Marvin Harrison, Jr. already on the roster, Johnston could make something happen in an offense with the scrambling ability of its quarterback, Murray.
The Cardinals could see Johnston's upside in the red zone and be willing to trade a high day-three draft pick next year.
Buffalo Bills
Chargers receive: 2026 third-round pick
Bills receive: WR Quentin Johnston
The Bills are inside a Super Bowl or bust window and could use another target for Josh Allen to get the ball to, especially a big target that can go up and win jump balls.
The Bills have second-year player Keon Coleman and former Chargers receiver Joshua Palmer, but Khalil Shakir has already been banged up this summer.
The Bills could be willing to pay as much as a third-round pick for Johnston, who is still just 23 years old, to make sure they have enough firepower for Josh Allen as they pursue a trip to Santa Clara in February.
Minnesota Vikings
Chargers receive: OL Walter Rouse, 2026 6th-round pick
Vikings receive: WR Quentin Johnston
In this deal, the Chargers accept less in draft capital and take an offensive lineman from the Vikings to help address the line following the season-ending injury suffered by Rashawn Slater on Thursday.
Walter Rouse is a developing tackle taken in the sixth round of the 2024 draft by the Vikings out of Oklahoma. He could provide depth behind Trey Pipkins, the presumed starter at right tackle with Slater out.
