Tough news amid tough 2025 season for Atlanta Braves

19 hours ago 1

It just has not been the year for the Atlanta Braves. Not only did the Braves get clubbed by the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night, 9-6, but they also lost their star outfielder, Ronald Acuna Jr.

The 27-year-old went on the injured list with an Achilles injury. There is no timetable for how long he will be out, but with Atlanta sitting well under .500, and fourth place in the National League East, many speculate it will be the end of his 2025 season.

Acuna missed the first chunk of the season and played in just 55 games this season. He was hitting .306 and had clubbed 14 home runs in those 55 games. In his final full game of the 2025 season, he went 2-for-4 and smacked a two-run home run, and also walked. The Braves beat the Royals 10-7 on Monday.

The game was also the first start of Erick Fedde's Atlanta Braves career. After being traded from St. Louis on Sunday, Fedde dropped to 3-11, allowing five hits and four runs over 4.2 innings against Kansas City.

Vinnie Pasuantino got the party started for Kansas City with a solo home run in the first inning. Jonathan India and Bobby Witt added to the fun with RBIs in the second inning. Kansas City added five runs in the sixth inning to roll to the 9-6 win.

Kansas City got a win from Seth Lugo. He is now 8-5 on the season. The two teams will finish their series on Wednesday afternoon.
