Top Chef Season 22 is in full swing and you know what that means… Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen! Why should one bad dish ruin your chances for a $250,000 grand prize and other amazing perks? Hosted and judged by Tom Colicchio, this redemption series allows recently eliminated chefs to face off for a chance to re-enter the Top Chef competition.
Colicchio shocked the chefs earlier this season when he announced on Top Chef that the first two eliminated contestants would *not* get the opportunity to go to Last Chance Kitchen to try and cook their way back in to the competition.
The first trailer for Last Chance Kitchen shows that this season is going to be a fiery one! Proceedings start to heat up when Top Chef host Kristen Kish tells an unseen chef to “please pack your knives and go.” “We’ll see you in Last Chance Kitchen,” says Colicchio with a smile. “Bring it.”
Over moody footage of the immaculately cleaned and stocked Top Chef kitchen, Colicchio”s voiceover sets the stage: “This is where eliminated chefs cook off to return to the competition.” The camera then cuts to a gleeful Colicchio with a delicious looking dish in front of him. “This is how you cook,” says Colicchio to the contestants seeking redemption, as a montage of delectable food pops on the screen. “I have to say if you were cooking like this, you wouldn’t be here right now.” Back at the judging station, Colicchio continues to chew. “I’m just going to take my time and keep eating. These are both really good.”
“This time around, I’m turning up the heat, offering only one chef a second shot,” continues Colicchio while standing in front of his station. Chefs Laurence Louie, Duyen Ha, and Oscar Diaz react in their confessionals. “I mean, that’s a huge change,” says Louie. “Last Chance Kitchen is wild,” chimes in Ha. “It’s like going through the gates of Hell,” exclaims Diaz.
A montage of kitchen action shots follows the confessionals. Flames jump off pans, Colicchio surveys approvingly, and sauces get poured into pots. “I heard Tom pulls some weird shit in Last Chance Kitchen,” says chef Justin Tootla wearily in his confessional. On cue, the camera cuts to shot of a big pile of raw duck heads and a bunch of live blue crabs scurrying around the counter. “Tom always has something up his sleeve,” says chef Brittany Cochran in her confessional.
The trailer wraps up with Colicchio simply laying out the stakes. “Win and you’re in, lose and your journey is over for good.” Which chef will come out on top and earn their way back into the Top Chef competition? Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen returns Monday, March 30, at 10:45 p.m. ET/PT on BravoTV.com and streams the next day on Peacock.
