A major AEW star has hinted at possibly never getting to wrestle Britt Baker again in her career. She mentioned that this was due to factors that were above her pay grade.
Thunder Rosa and Baker had a major feud during the early days of AEW, which also included their brutal Unsanctioned Lights Out match in 2021. At the time, both women were slugging it out for the women's world title, a feud that would end up being etched in the company's history forever. They have not crossed paths since then.
While appearing on Masks, Mats and Mayhem, Rosa mentioned how, at this point, it was not up to her, but those above her in booking this rematch. She mentioned how it would be nice to have a final chapter to this feud, but she was unsure whether this would ever happen.
“Again, it’s not up to me. It’s not up to her. It’s up to the people above us. That’s above my pay grade. I mean, I would love to. I think it would be a good idea to close the chapter on our story and do it right. That’s what I’m saying — it’s time to finish the story. Give her another chance. It’s not me giving her another chance — I mean, for years I’ve been saying we should finish. I’ve called her out plenty of times, yes. I don’t know if it will happen.”She continued by discussing possible motivations for rekindling this feud between them. She previously called out Baker for a hair vs. hair match at AEW All In: Texas, but nothing materialized.
“I think it’s a matter of respect, right? Like, she might feel disrespected. She wants to get the respect back from the locker room or whatever. And who else than to beat me — to beat the respect out of me? But I don’t know.” [H/T RSN]Thunder Rosa is close to her AEW return
La Mera Mera has not been seen since the Women's Casino Gauntlet match at All In: Texas. It was said that she sustained an injury during the bout and has been recovering since.
In a recent interview with Midnight Movie Trash, Thunder Rosa revealed what she has been up to lately. She then mentioned how she was doing rehab for her injuries, and she believed she was close to her AEW in-ring return.
“I’m actually going to be part of the mega procession of Catrinas, which is in Mexico City in Reforma (...) I’m also doing a lot of work with the NFL and the Texans that’s been a lot of fun and right now I’m just focusing on continuing my rehab for the injuries that I just had a couple months ago and I have really good news. Everything’s going really well so I’m expecting to return to the ring fairly soon," she said. The AEW women's division has been on a roll as of late, and there is now an ongoing tournament to crown the inaugural women's tag team champions. It remains to be seen where Rosa will slot herself in on the roster when she makes her return.
