Jon Moxley has been a part of top AEW storylines during his remarkable six-year tenure. Another top star recently revealed a nixed idea involving The Purveyor of Violence that could have drastically altered the landscape of All Elite.
The aforementioned star, who was a former EVP in All Elite Wrestling, is Matt Jackson. He and his brother, Nick Jackson, collectively known as The Young Bucks, went on a six-month hiatus in 2024 before returning to AEW at the Dynasty pay-per-view in April.
Moreover, it was expected that Matt and Nick Jackson would return as babyfaces. Instead, they aligned with Jon Moxley and his faction, The Death Riders. In a recent interview with Vice, Matt Jackson revealed that he felt The Young Bucks needed to return as babyfaces, as they had reached the end of their run as heels, and even pitched an idea for their turn upon their comeback at AEW Dynasty.
"When we came back in April I was like, ‘Maybe we need to come back as babyfaces. We’ve done all we can do as heels.’ I pictured the lights being restored and then maybe we had Moxley in a BTE trigger and we BTE trigger him and turn babyface. I’m like, ‘I don’t know if we can squeeze any more out of this heel thing…’ here we are seven months later we got a whole other half a year run as bad guys. And who knows how much longer, right?"- H/T FightfulAEW star Matt Jackson on The Young Bucks' run after return
In the same interview, Matt Jackson stated that The Young Bucks have taken their run as heels to the next level. He also added that their desire for experimentation is what has kept them relevant in the wrestling business for years.
“So, it’s been cool to to be able to take this story to the next level the way we have. I’m really proud of what we’ve gotten to do week by week with it. I think we wanted to explore something different and try something different because we’re always trying different things. That’s what keeps us in the center of the conversation.”-H/T FightfulCurrently, The Bucks have been teased to align with The Don Callis Family. So it remains to be seen if it will come to fruition and could be the beginning of another captivating run for them.
