Tony Khan has briefly spoken about CM Punk's major backstage incident in AEW a few years ago. He talked about the individual who played a big part in settling everything and keeping the show going.

At All In: Wembley in 2023, the backstage incident between CM Punk and Jack Perry took place. This happened right before the start of the main show, and it was mentioned that Samoa Joe stepped up as the locker room leader and got everything together. Punk and Joe were able to continue with their match, and in the end, the show was a success.

Tony Khan spoke about this during his interview on Q101. He talked about the 2-time AEW World Championship stepping up and how he was a professional both in and out of the ring. He was thankful that Joe was around, and he claimed that he was fully deserving of being the locker room leader.

“I think it was very good that Samoa Joe de-escalated the situation and also that Samoa Joe made sure that the fans got the match that they thought they had paid to see. He went out there and everything was great, and he was such a professional and that exemplifies Samoa Joe in the ring and out of the ring the most professional man and he was so great that day and so many other times. He’s one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met what the leader Samoa Joe is in the ring and out of the ring a captain, a true captain of a team and I’m very blessed that he’s in AEW” [H/T @KXNGAO on X]

Tony Khan says that the most stressful PPV was the first Wembley show by far, says Samoa Joe saved the day and is the most professional man: “I think it was very good that Samoa Joe de-escalated the situation and also that Samoa Joe made sure that the fans got the match that

A major AEW star wanted to face Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe is deemed one of the greatest wrestlers of the past two decades. He has done it all and has competed for several major promotions, including ROH, TNA, WWE, and now, AEW. Despite being a veteran in the business, he is still one of the top performers in the ring and someone feared on the roster.

Kyle Fletcher has recently shared during his interview with Chris Van Vliet that he would like a chance to share the ring with Joe. He hoped to be given a chance to face him, as he was someone he had grown up watching, and someone with great experience in the ring.

"The one that I keep talking about is I really want to get in there with Samoa Joe. I think that would be a really cool one for me, and a really cool test for me. It’s someone that I’ve been watching for a decade plus, so that’s someone that I would love to get in there with. Other than that, I’ve been pretty blessed, I’ve been lucky enough to get in there with a lot of the people that I looked up to growing up."

People, not just in AEW, but in the entire industry, have said nothing but good things about Samoa Joe. At the same time, he has also proven that he still has what it takes in the ring. This is proof that he is indeed one of the best wrestlers of his generation, and possibly, all-time.
