Tony Finau and Lilia Vu are teaming up for this week’s Grant Thornton Invitational. They will start their game with the opening round on Friday, December 12. Ahead of the event, they attended a press conference and reflected on their excitement for the tournament.

Finau and Vu also revealed the name of their team for the event. They named their team “VuNau”. Finau talked about the name of their team and said (via Tee Scripts):

"It's VuNau, what I do now. Who now, VuNau, what I do now. It doesn't quite have -- it doesn't roll off the tongue perfect, but just keep saying it, it will roll out."

This season has been decent so far for Tony Finau. He started the campaign at the Sentry and settled in a T5 position. The American golfer last played on the PGA Tour at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

He carded four rounds of 69, 68, 73, and 76 to settle in the T64 place in the event. He played in 20 tournaments and made the cut in 15 of them. He recorded one finish in the top 10.

Tony Finau and Lilia Vu reflect on their excitement of playing at the Grant Thornton Invitational

The Grant Thornton Invitational was started in 2023, and this is the third edition of the event. Tony Finau and Lilia Vu played in the event in the past, but with different partners.

They are teaming up for the first time this week at the tournament. In the press conference, they talked about playing with each other. Vu said (via Tee Scripts):

"I think we all have so much experience in golf, I don't think it's that hard. I think we're able to talk before the golf shot like what the other player wants, what number the other player wants in and different stuff like that. I've played here a little bit more so hopefully me and my caddie are able to kind of give more insight of where to leave the ball. I think we're all very experienced and it should be pretty easy talking through it."

Finau said (via Tee Scripts):

"We both have a lot of experience playing the game. We both know that we're going to give it our best shot, give it our best effort. We both have done some great preparation work. This tournament, you've got two pro-ams to play the 18 holes so we've learned a lot about the golf course, what kind of shape it's in."

Tony Finau and Lilia Vu will tee off for the Grant Thornton Invitational at 10:30 a.m. ET. They will start their game in a group with Wyndham Clark and Lexi Thompson.

The play on Friday will start at 9:00 a.m. ET. Tom Hoge and Angel Yin will take the first shot of the day in a group with Neal Shipley and Maja Stark.
