Tommy Lee Jones Speaks Out After Daughter Victoria Jones' Death
More details about Victoria Jones’ sudden death are coming to light.
Over a month after Tommy Lee Jones’ daughter died at age 34, her death was determined to be an “accident,” caused by the “toxic effects of cocaine,” the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco, Calif. told People on Feb. 17.
Victoria was found dead at a hotel in San Francisco, Calif., on Jan. 1. Officials from the city’s fire department confirmed to E! News on Jan. 2 that they responded to a medical emergency at 2:52 a.m. local time on New Year’s Day. Upon arrival, paramedics performed an assessment and pronounced the person dead at the scene. The San Francisco Fire Department then turned the case over to the medical examiner and San Francisco Police Department.
Following the actress’ tragic death, Tommy Lee, 79, released a statement on behalf of their family, saying, "We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Victoria—whom Tommy Lee shared with ex Kimberlea Cloughley, along with their son Austin Jones, 43—made her debut in Men in Black II, alongside her dad and Will Smith, when she was just 11 years old in 2002.
She went on to appear in Tommy Lee’s 2005 neo-Western The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and 2014’s The Homesman. She also had a brief role in One Tree Hill before officially retiring from acting in 2014.

Despite her short run in the industry, Tommy Lee was vocal about his pride for his daughter’s career.
“She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish,” the Fugitive star told The New Yorker in 2006. “When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.”
In fact, Victoria was such a huge part of Tommy Lee’s life that she inspired him to write The Homesman, a Western exploring sexism in the 1800s, which he also directed and starred in.
"My grandmother, my mother, my wife, and my daughter are all women," Tommy Lee, who married Dawn Laurel-Jones in 2001, said in an Interview magazine feature in 2014. "A lot of my dear friends, yourself included, are women. I am just interested in how they feel, and what’s wrong. And if you want to know what’s wrong today, looking at what was wrong yesterday is a pretty good place to start."
