Tom Brady and Deion Sanders empathize as Randy Moss looks back on one year since life-changing cancer surgery

It has been a year since a major surgery changed Randy Moss' life on Friday. After a long break from Instagram, Moss made a comeback on the platform.

On Saturday, he shared a photo of his recovery and wrote:

"Been gone for a whole year off gram. This is the only pic that I saved. 1year till this day since my big surgery! TO ALL MY DOCTORS & PRAYER WARRIORS......THANK U."

Moss used the "Blessed man" hashtag. Tom Brady, who played with Moss on the New England Patriots, commented:

Deion Sanders also left a comment.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson posted prayer emojis. New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston wrote:

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick's girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, showed support. She posted purple heart emojis and a high-ten emoji.

In late 2024, Randy Moss revealed he was diagnosed with Stage 2 bile duct cancer. Doctors found a tumor near his bile duct, between his liver and pancreas.

The diagnosis was done after Moss noticed symptoms like yellowing of the skin and dark urine. Around Thanksgiving in 2024, Moss had a procedure to place a stent in his bile duct to help with the blockage.

In December 2024, he went through a six-hour surgery that removed parts of his pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. He started chemotherapy and radiation in early 2025 and stopped working on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” during treatment.

In September, Moss shared that he had finished treatment and was cancer-free. The announcement after he rang the bell at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. He later returned to ESPN for the 2025 NFL season.

Brady and Moss played together with the Patriots from 2007 to 2010. In 2007, Brady threw a record 50 touchdown passes, including 23 to Moss, which set an NFL record.

Sanders and Moss never played together.

Tom Brady reacted after Deion Sanders lauded Randy Moss for supporting CU HC during cancer

Randy Moss was there for Deion Sanders during his cancer fight. At a July 28 press conference, Sanders shared:

"Randy Moss called me every other day to make sure I was straight. Randy Moss prayed for me. He and his wife told me what I need to be doing. He's going through some very similar things. "Randy Moss, man. I love him to life. Love him more than ever. Praying he can come up to a game this year. He gave me so much strength, so much guidance and so much love, respect and appreciation. Thank you, Randy, I really appreciate you, I really do."

The Colorado Buffaloes coach also said his health battle never made him think about stepping away from football.

In early 2025, doctors found a tumor in Deion Sanders’ bladder. He had a major surgery where his bladder was removed and rebuilt using part of his small intestine.

During treatment, Sanders lost around 25 pounds, but he stayed focused and continued coaching Colorado.

At a July 28 press conference in Boulder, his surgeon, Dr. Janet Kukreja, said he was “cured of cancer.”
