The Tennessee Titans have a need at center and the team is reportedly interested in some of the best players available at the position in free agency.
According to Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky, Tennessee has four centers on its radar, including Connor McGovern, Tyler Linderbaum, Luke Fortner and Tyler Biadasz.
"Tyler Linderbaum of the Ravens is the top center heading to free agency now. The Titans' search can go wide in a pretty solid market," Kuharsky wrote. "Still, three others are also on the Titans' radar: Connor McGovern of the Bills, Tyler Biadasz, who Washington recently released, and Luke Fortner of the Saints."
Tennessee has a clear need at center after the team cut ties with Lloyd Cushenberry recently.
Linderbaum is the prized jewel of the free-agent class at center after three-straight Pro Bowl appearances that cemented him as one of the best at his position.
There is going to be significant interest in Linderbaum, who is projected to receive a deal that pays him north of $20 million annually. The Titans are absolutely loaded with cap space ($93.8 million), so they can afford to pay him that much.
McGovern might not be on Linderbaum's level, but he's a good center, as evidenced by his Pro Football Focus grades of 65.2 in run-blocking and 73.4 in pass-blocking last season, which ranked 20th and sixth among centers. He also didn't give up a single sack and permitted only 14 pressures.
Fortner should do well in free agency, but he should come cheaper than both of the aforementioned centers. Fortner finished one spot behind McGovern in PFF pass-blocking grade (72.5) and was one spot better in run-blocking grade (65.3). The New Orleans Saints pending free agent gave up three sacks and 11 pressures.
Biadasz was cut loose by the Washington Commanders recently, which was a bit surprising since he was solid last season. Biadasz ranked 12th and 18th in run-blocking and pass-blocking grades, and allowed three sacks and 21 pressures.
With the Titans having a bunch of cap space, any one of these four centers in a realistic possibility for Tennessee.
We believe the Titans will start off by aiming high on Linderbaum and McGovern, and if they don't pan out, Tennessee will likely move to Fortner and Biadasz as fallback options.
