Titans predicted to add 72-sack defender to pair with Arden Key for 2025 season

The Tennessee Titans were among the worst teams in the league in 2024, and ended up with the No. 1 pick as a result.

The team selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick, and the hope is that the star passer will turn the franchise's fortunes around. To improve the roster around Ward, the team added solid lineman Dan Moore and Kevin Zeitler, and veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett.

On defense, the team added edge-rusher Dre'Mont Jones, linebacker Cody Barton, and safety Xavier Woods. However, the edge-rusher group still needs some work, as veteran Harold Landry III is now on the New England Patriots.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently identified one move each team should make before the season begins. For the Titans, Moton identified edge-rusher Matt Judon as a logical fit.

Regarding Judon and the Titans, Moton offered the following:

After releasing Handry Landry III, the Titans will rely on Dre'Mont Jones and Arden Key to generate a pass rush off the edge. Perhaps rookie second-rounder Oluwafemi Oladejo cracks the rotation as a contributor, but Tennessee can add veteran insurance by signing Judon.

Entering his age-33 term, Judon is past his prime. However, he can still record a handful of sacks for a team that doesn't have a standout pass-rusher.

As Moton mentioned, Judon is past his prime, but could still be a valuable rotation piece.

In 2024, Judon played in all 17 games for the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran collected 41 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hits. Pro Football Focus credited Judon with 25 pressures, which ranked 72nd out of 211 qualified edge-rushers.

It was a nice bounce-back season for Judon, who played in just four games in 2023 after suffering a biceps injury. The veteran improved as the 2024 season went along and he got healthier.

While Judon is just a rotational pass-rusher at this point, he isn't far removed from being elite off the edge. In 2022, Judon racked up 60 tackles and 15.5 sacks and earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection.

Overall, Judon has played in nine seasons for three different teams. The veteran has 72 total sacks and has exceeded the double-digit mark twice. Judon earned Pro Bowl bids in every season from 2019-22.

In Tennessee, Judon could split reps with Jones or Arden Key, giving the team another experienced option. Right now, rookie second-round pick Oluwafemi Oladejo 2024 seventh-rounder Jaylen Harrell are the top depth options.
