The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors 117-110 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Julius Randle led all scorers with 31 points in the victory and played 41 minutes.
Although he only played three minutes in the fourth quarter, Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards put together a 16-point third quarter and finished with 30 points on the night to help secure the victory as well. In 33 minutes, Edwards shot 11/21 from the field for 52% and 6/11 from beyond the arc for 54%.
Prior to Edwards' explosive third quarter performance, coach Chris Finch had a simple, yet inspiring message for the team to add some motivation for the second half. After the victory, Edwards joined Sportscenter and said that coach Finch had some words for the team at halftime.
"We came out like we won the game already. Like we had won the series already. When we came in at halftime, coach told us like, 'Man, we playing like some losers," Edwards said.
These words from the coach helped spark a third quarter where the Timberwolves outscored the Warriors 39-17. The energy that Minnesota came out with to start the second half ended up being the deciding factor in the victory. As a team, they shot 13/20 in the third quarter.
Jaden McDaniels played a pivotal role in the win as well, securing a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Now that the series is 3-1, the Timberwolves are in the driver's seat and are one win away from advancing to their second consecutive Conference Finals. Game 5 will take place on Wednesday night in Minnesota.
