Australia's hard-hitting batter Tim David and Team India leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy were involved in a funny episode with each other during the second T20I on Friday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Playing a bit of mind game, David pulled away as the wrist-spinner came to bowl, and the latter followed it by backing off when he was just about to deliver the ball, sparking amusement among the commentators.
The moment came in the ninth over of the innings as India skipper Suryakumar Yadav tossed the ball to the leggie for his third over. After Josh Inglis took a single off the first ball, the visiting captain opted to have a short leg in Tilak Varma to put pressure on David, who had just walked in.
The mini-drama began then as the batter pulled away, and Chakravarthy also backed down from delivering the ball. The Singapore-born cricketer went on to collect a single off the first ball he faced from the 34-year-old but spooned a return catch to him in the very same over.

David, a serial six-hitter, had to walk back for only 1 after facing only two deliveries.
Varun Chakravarthy takes two wickets but Australia win by six wickets in Melbourne
Meanwhile, Varun finished with tidy figures of 4-0-23-2, dismissing David and Travis Head. Nevertheless, it was not enough to stop the hosts from taking a 1-0 lead in the five-game T20I series.
With Mitchell Marsh winning the toss yet again, he sent the Men in Blue into bat. Only Abhishek Sharma (68) and Harshit Rana (35) got to double figures from India as the batters struggled to contain the movement and bounce. Josh Hazlewood starred for Australia with three wickets, while Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis claimed two apiece.
With the bat, Marsh top-scored with 46 off 26 deliveries and built a 51-run opening stand with Head (28). Inglis (20) and Mitch Owen (14) chipped in with crucial contributions to help Australia cross the line by four wickets. The third T20I will take place on Sunday, November 2, in Hobart.
