With the MLB trade deadline just around the corner, the Detroit Tigers are looking to bolster their roster in a few key areas. Those are in the bullpen and at third base. One of their top targets is coming to town, with the Arizona Diamondbacks making the trip up to Detroit.

According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, with the Diamondbacks coming to Detroit, the Tigers "would love to finalize a deal" by the trade deadline for Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

"The Detroit Tigers," Nightengale writes, "one of the strong suitors for Diamondbacks All-Star 3B Eugenio Suarez, would love to finalize a deal before Suarez leaves town Wednesday. The DBacks are in Detroit for 3-game series."

Arizona has already traded one of its players, first baseman Josh Naylor, indicating the team is willing to sell. Suarez is expected to be dealt; the only question is who lands the slugger.

Detroit has been in and out of the sweepstakes, and this report from Nightengale is the latest indication that not only is Detroit interested in Suarez, but they would love to keep him in Detroit past his series with the Diamondbacks, which ends on Wednesday.

This season, Suarez has been one of the better hitters in baseball. He's hitting .247, but has 36 home runs and 87 RBIs. across 104 games played. He also has 94 hits, 64 runs scored, 18 doubles, and an .898 OPS on the year.

Suarez earned his second All-Star nod in his big-league career and is having one of his best seasons yet. Teams around baseball are vying for him, and this report from Nightengale points towards Detroit being heavily involved as well.

Suarez could be joining the Tigers by the end of the month if the two sides can work out a deal. With both teams in Detroit, negotiations could be more involved than before.

While Detroit won't be alone in its pursuit of Suarez, this report is an indication that the Tigers will be trying hard to land Suarez. Coming off losing 12 of their last 14, the Tigers could use someone like Suarez in the lineup. Reuniting with the 34-year-old third baseman would be a fun deadline move for the Tigers, and one that'd help immensely.
