While the Detroit Tigers might not be having the best season overall, they should still have some representation at the All-Star Game this season.
However, after the first wave of fan voting, the Tigers didn't have anyone in great shape to advance past the first round and be a finalist. And now, with the second wave of fan voting coming in, the update isn't any better. In fact, it's a ridiculous update.
As Evan Woodberry of MLive Media Group shared on Twitter/x, the Tigers got updates on Dillon Dingler and Kevin McGonigle's All-Star voting, both of which make absolutely zero sense.
Tigers receive Dingler, McGonigle All-Star updates that make zero sense
Dillon Dingler's snub
"Probably an insurmountable margin for Dillon Dingler to make it to Phase 2 of fan voting," Woodberry writes. "He'll have to get in the All-Star game another way."
This "insurmountable margin" for Dingler is the difference between his spot at third place, with 484,290 votes, and second place in the Toronto Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk at 837,289 votes.
Despite Kirk barely playing this season, and considering how good Dingler has been, this snub makes no sense and is completely ridiculous.

Dingler has a .269 batting average with 18 homers and 55 RBIs with an .884 OPS in 70 gams and 260 at-bats. Kirk has a .200 batting average with one homer, five RBIs, and a .598 OPS in 11 games and 40 at-bats this season.
Kirk, with those statistics, getting a single All-Star vote is completely ridiculous. To not only receive a lot of votes but to place second among all AL catchers makes no sense at all.
Kevin McGonigle snub
But the McGonigle snub is just as bad. He is also in third place, as he has 460,075 votes. Another Blue Jays player who is undeserving of this spot, Andres Gimenez, is in second place for shortstop All-Star voting with 894,926 votes.
McGonigle has a .283 batting average with six homers, 26 RBIs, and an .821 OPS in 74 games and 267 at-bats. Gimenez has just a .232 batting average, seven homers, 33 RBIs, and a .647 OPS in 73 games and 241 at-bats.

While Gimenez might have more RBIs and homers, the massive difference in OPS should make McGonigle's case very clear. But the Dingler comparison to Kirk is even worse.
Tigers are massive fan voting All-Star snubs
There are some awful snubs around MLB through the fan voting so far, but Dingler's snub of Kirk of all players might be the worst. There is zero excuse for Kirk having more votes than Dingler right now.
Both Dingler and McGonigle are getting snubbed by Blue Jays players this season for the AL All-Star fan voting. Hopefully, both receive their deserved All-Star nods once fan voting is over, as they're clearly being disrespected in this fan voting so far.
