Tigers-Braves blockbuster trade idea sends 3-time All-Star slugger to Detroit

The Detroit Tigers are the best team in Major League Baseball with a record of 47-27 and hold a nine-and-a-half game lead over the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the American League Central.

Powered by reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, the starting rotation carries a fourth-best 3.34 ERA.

The bullpen has been solid, boasting a 3.72 ERA which is good for 13th in MLB.

The offense is fueled by rising stars and resurging veterans, ranking in the upper half of the league in most categories.

However, the Tigers could use a power bat to add some extra thump to the lineup. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand listed 14 trade candidates with potential landing spots, and the Tigers were a match for a three-time All-Star slugger with 286 career home runs.

Designated hitter/outfielder Marcell Ozuna from the Atlanta Braves would be a great fit for the Tigers and could be made available in the coming weeks.

Ozuna, 34, has been one of MLB’s premier sluggers for several years. He was an All-Star last year and played all 162 games, clubbing 39 home runs and driving in 104 RBI while slashing .302/.378/.546.

This season, Ozuna has gotten off to a slow start but has 11 home runs and 38 RBI while slashing .257/.389/.427 in 68 games.

He is slumping in June but has at least one hit in five of his last seven games, including two multi-hit performances.

Ozuna would be a great addition to an already great Tigers team. If the Tigers were to make this deal, their postseason odds and World Series odds would drastically increase.
