Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal announced he will play in the upcoming 2026 WBC tournament. Skubal will play for the USA, the runners-up in the 2023 edition of the tournament.

The 29-year-old ace pitcher announced his participation through a single snap Instagram post. In the edited picture, Skubal donned Team USA gear.

"WBC 🔜#forglory🇺🇸," Skubal captioned the post.

With Skubal's commitment, Team USA has two reigning Cy Young winners on their roster. Pirates ace and the 2025 National League Cy Young winner, Paul Skenes, had committed in May.

Other pitchers on the roster are Joe Ryan of the Minnesota Twins, Mathew Boyd of the Chicago Cubs, Garrett Cleavinger of the Tampa Bay Rays, Clay Holmes and Nolan McLean of the New York Mets, and Garret Whitlock of the Boston Red Sox.

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge will lead the team, taking over from Mike Trout. Judge will likely play right field, with Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstong and Arizona Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll filling the rest of the outfield.

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith and his Seattle Mariners counterpart Cal Raleigh are also on the team. The duo will likely split the backstop duties.

Kansas City Royals superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson, Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang, and Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber are the other sluggers on the roster.
