A PGA Tour record long held by Tiger Woods will soon be broken by two of the younger faces of golf.

For years, Woods has held the all-time mark in career earnings made in PGA Tour events — he's made a nine-digit amount in cash from tournaments alone, which has helped him join LeBron James as the only confirmed athlete billionaires in the world. 

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are fresh on Woods' heels in all-time earnings, however. After Scheffler brought home some cash from the BMW Championship, just one more top finish could help him supplant Woods.

For now, Woods remains the golden standard for making money on the PGA Tour. He's accumulated nearly $121 million from tournament winnings alone, which is the tour's all-time record. Specifically, the PGA Tour credits him with $120,999,166 in event winnings.

With 82 of Woods' 110 professional wins coming on the PGA Tour, he's made some cash coming from other tours as well. But the backbone of his wealth has come from his PGA Tour stardom; according to Forbes, Woods has a net worth of $1.5 billion. He was certified by the outlet as a billionaire in 2022, joining James as the second athlete ever with that distinction.

Woods' career isn't over yet — he's currently on a hiatus from golf following his March DUI incident and injury issues throughout 2025 — so he could wind up adding to his PGA Tour total eventually.

Scottie Scheffler career earnings

Scheffler has 21 wins in his PGA Tour career since joining in 2020 — far fewer than Woods' 82, which is tied for the all-time record, but with higher payouts than Woods had for most of his career.

Scheffler needs $608,505 in PGA Tour earnings to tie Woods on the all-time earnings list, and one more dollar than that figure to surpass him.

At the 2026 Tour Championship, that means Scheffler needs a No. 13 finish or higher without ties, for a $625,000 payout, to pass Woods on the all-time list. Ties on the leaderboard may complicate Scheffler's payout, but a T-9 finish or better would also guarantee he passes Woods this weekend.

Rory McIlroy career earnings

After earning $1.36 million from his No. 3 finish at the BMW Championship, McIlroy now sits at a career earnings total of $117,848,372.

He has 30 wins on the PGA Tour in his career, joining the tour in 2010, with a total of 87 top-5 finishes.

McIlroy needs $3,150,794 to tie Woods on the all-time career earnings list, with another dollar above that mark to surpass him.

At the 2026 Tour Championship, that means McIlroy needs a No. 4 finish or higher without ties, for a $3.2 million payout, to pass Woods on the all-time list. Ties on the leaderboard may complicate McIlroy payout; a three-way tie involving McIlroy for third place ($3,218,333.33) or a five-way tie for second place ($3,311,000) would also help him pass Woods this weekend.
