Three Detroit Tigers named MLB All-Star Game finalists

Along with the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and a handful of other teams, the Detroit Tigers have been amongst the best teams in the MLB in 2025.

And with the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner in Tarik Skubal still in prime form from last year, and the list of young talent that the Motor City has accrued on the diamond in recent years, it's really no wonder.

Now, some of those players will look to add an individual achievement to their slates: MLB All-Star.

Voting for phase one of the 2025 MLB All-Star has been completed, with reigning MVPs, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani being the first two named to the Game after being the leading vote-getters in the American and National League, respectively.

And with that, the rest of the players will now compete for the starting spots, and Detroit has a few players with horses in this race.

Second baseman Gleyber Torres will look to make his third career All-Star game and first with the Tigers, as he matches up against young Baltimore Orioles star Jackson Holliday.

Torres was previously named to the 2018 and 2019 Midsummer Classics as a member of the New York Yankees.

In the outfield, Riley Greene and Javier Baez will look to claim the final two starting spots along with the Angels' Mike Trout and Cleveland's Steven Kwan.

Greene was named to his first All-Star Game last year, and Baez will look for his first selection to the Game since 2019, when he started as a shortstop for the National League when he was with the Chicago Cubs.

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 15 from Truist Park in Atlanta.
