This Yankees hitter uses more than 100 bottles of cologne

Being a catcher is probably not the best recipe for smelling good.

Yankees catcher J.C. Escarra has the solution, though -- an immense cologne collection.

MLB.com's CJ Haddad shared in a new story that Escarra has more than 100 bottles of cologne.

Of the many amusing anecdotes in this story, one of the best is that the question wasn't even posed to Escarra by a media member -- it was by infielder Oswaldo Cabrera, who joined the scrum to bring up this specific topic.

“If I were to count – I don’t know the exact number, but probably more than 100," Escarra said. "I rotate. So if I've used one a couple times already, I might put it to the back and get the next one in line."

It was pointed out to Escarra that he had two bottles in his locker after the spring game that had just concluded, one in which he went 3-for-4 with a home run.

“You know what, I had a good day,” Escarra said. “I think I have to stick with these for a little while.”

Escarra is a 30-year old catcher who still hasn't gotten tons of chances at the MLB level.

This season, though, he's expected to break camp as the Yankees' backup behind Austin Wells.

Escarra's name might sound familiar. He gained some fame during his MLB debut season last year because he had driven Ubers to make ends meet after being released by the Baltimore Orioles. He then had to play independent ball, as well as with teams in Puerto Rico and Mexico, before getting back to affiliated ball.

Now, he smells good, plays good and is set to be with the Yankees on Opening Day.
