“This is pure evil” “Frauds”: Fans rip NFL over controversial ruling in Amon-Ra St. Brown - Daron Payne slapgate incident

Amon-Ra St. Brown has been hit with disciplinary measures by the NFL for what transpired during the Detroit Lions vs Washington Commanders game in Week 11.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the league has fined the Lions wide receiver for unnecessary roughness on the field. St. Brown has gotten into an altercation with Commanders DL Daron Payne.

"The NFL fined Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown $12,172 for unnecessary rougness- smacking the facemask of Daron Payne, who later retaliated by punching St. Brown, earning an ejection and one-game suspension," Pelissero tweeted.

NFL fans on social media called out the league for its ruling on the Amon-Ra St. Brown-Daron Payne incident.

"NFL is bs, suspended one player for doing the same after another player did it to him. It's all on tape and they know it. Frauds!!!" one fan commented. "This is pure evil from the NFL," another fan said. "Not a smack. That's a punch. Don't try to justify the NFL's joke of a fine. Fair punishment for equal infraction. And instigated. Suspend, not pretend," this fan wrote. "Somebody please explain to me why St. Brown isn't suspended along with him?" another fan stated. "Typical NFL. Punish the retaliation more than the instigator. Make it make sense," one fan said. "Payne shouldn't be suspended then. Just fine him and make it fair," this fan commented.

In the second quarter of the game, Amon-Ra St. Brown got physical with Daron. The Lions wide receiver ended up throwing a punch at Payne's face before an official broke off the altercation. A few plays later, after Jahmyr Gibbs scored a 13-yard rushing touchdown, the Commanders DL threw a punch at St. Brown.

Payne was ejected from the game and earned a one-game suspension by the NFL.

On Wednesday's episode of his podcast, Amon-Ra St. Brown opened up about the fight between him and Daron Payne.

"Payne comes out and bumps me, I'm like what the f**k?" St. Brown said. "So I hit him and he starts talking s**t. Then I hit him again, I accidentally hit him in the face. "I didn't even mean to jab him in the face. I just meant to like push him off, and I so happen to hit him in the face. At that moment I was like damn I shouldn't have done that."

The game ended with the Lions securing a 44-22 victory over the Commanders. St. Brown tallied 58 yards and one touchdown receiving for his team.
