“This is basically my life” - Jonathan Haggerty has dedicated himself to regaining the bantamweight Muay Thai gold

Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom has one thing on his mind right now, and that’s going after his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai belt.

Haggerty lost the belt in a 2024 knockout setback to ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9. The belt is now held by Algerian-Thai star Nabil Anane, and ‘The General’ is looking to reclaim the strap next year.

Speaking on the Mulligan Brothers podcast, Haggerty says he has dedicated his days and nights to his craft and is laser-focused on achieving his goal.

‘The General’ stated:

“This is basically my life, mate. This is basically my life. After this, obviously, it comes with building a business, obviously building my own gyms, my own brands. But right now, the main focus is on the ONE Championship belt. Can't do one or the other.”

Haggerty is dealing with a shoulder injury right now, but says he will be back soon to restart his ascent.

‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty believes he’s a man forged in the fires of adversity, and that high-profile defeats to ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9 and ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon have only made him a better fighter.

Speaking to veteran ONE Championship reporter Nick Atkin in a recent interview, Haggerty had this to say:

“Yeah, it stings. It does sting obviously, but obviously I've overcome that, you know. It's made me a better fighter, a better person. I've learned from the mistakes, and it's just up to me now to get in there and put things right again and get the belt back, which I'm excited to do. It's been a while since I've had the belt, so I'm excited to reclaim it.”
