This Chinese NBA Draft prospect is drawing comparisons to Nikola Jokic, not Yao Ming

There's only one Nikola Jokic.

But if you want to squint really hard and recognize some of Jokic's best qualities in a player in this year's NBA Draft class, you'll want to turn your eyes toward Yang Hansen.

Yang is a 7-foot-1 Chinese center who took part in this week's NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

And when clips of Yang hit social media, the comparisons weren't to 7-foot-6 Chinese legend Yao Ming but instead to Jokic.

Yang clearly has a great basketball IQ and feel for the game, and he showed it off with some slick passing.

None of this is to say that Yang will turn out to be Jokic. There will never be another NBA center quite like Jokic.

But in the pace-and-space era of the NBA, a giant needs to have skill to survive. Yang clearly has skill.

Yang played the past season in the Chinese Basketball Association and averaged 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.

He could be a borderline first-round pick, especially if a team can envision a specific role for him.

Keep an eye on this big fella. He's hard to miss, for multiple reasons.
