‘The View’s Sunny Hostin Accuses ‘Morning Joe’ Scarborough And Mika Brzezinski Of Kissing Trump’s Ring: “Maybe They’re Not Journalists In The True Sense”

Sunny Hostin is calling out broadcasters Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for meeting with president-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

The couple has been openly critical of Trump over the years — but in a surprising twist, they ended up meeting with him to “restart communications.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who has spoken out against Trump since leaving his administration in 2020, thought it was the “right thing” for the Morning Joe co-hosts to do, noting that they wanted to be able to “engage the person” and “raise issues” with him in the future.

“I would sit down with Donald Trump. I would interview Donald Trump. And I’ll go a step further and say I hope good people work for him,” Griffin argued. “We need to stop demonizing people who supported a man who just became President of the United States. We should hope good people are around him and smart journalists are challenging him.”

However, Hostin accused Scarborough and Brzezinski of trying to “kiss his ring.”

“The bottom line is that America needs a free press that is willing to speak truth to power right now more than ever. And I think that we have to be very clear-eyed when we think about the president-elect and cover the president-elect,” Hostin said. “And I don’t think you need to sit down for 90 minutes at Mar-a-Lago and kiss his ring to be able to speak truth and to be able to cover a story.”

“So maybe they’re not journalists in the true sense. Maybe they’re saying that they’re opinion journalists,” she continued. “But we have to remember that Trump is the guy who ushered in the era of fake news.”

Hostin then went on to list Trump’s various offenses toward the press, like when he “attacked three Black female journalists” or “revoked” CNN broadcaster Jim Acosta’s press credentials.

Hostin blasted Trump, suggesting that he would like nothing more than a state sponsored media,” before concluding, “I don’t think he can be trusted in the way that other presidents can be trusted.”
