The View weighed in on President Donald Trump‘s State of the Union address, and Joy Behar was not upset by Trump, but Vice President JD Vance and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, as well.
While Whoopi Goldberg said she was “true to [her] word” and “had a great time” watching Bob’s Burgers last night—though was “forced to watch” Trump’s State of the Union address after the show ended at 8 p.m.—said she “watched the whole thing,”to her dismay.
“I was physically ill from it and more nauseous than usual watching him,” she lamented. “The way he was demonizing immigrants made me sick. It made me sick. This country—I was saying to my husband, what makes this country great? What made it great and different from other countries, lets say in Europe and other places, is we welcomed immigrants in this country.”
Behar explained how her family left Southern Italy because “there was no work” for them there, noting “that’s why [she’s] sitting here today.”
“It made me feel really sad. That’s the reason America has been what it is. I don’t want to make a speech, but I was furious and scared, as the Bert and Ernie kept jumping up and down behind him also,” she said, referring to Vance and Johnson.
