‘The View’ Reacts In Fury To Nancy Mace’s “Disgusting” Bathroom Bill As They Accuse Her Of “Bullying” Trans Colleague Sarah McBride

The View reacted in disgust to Rep. Nancy Mace’s proposal for a bill banning trans women from using restrooms on Capitol Hill that align with their gender identity. Mace, who had her own tense guest spot on The View in October 2023, claimed she was defending women and girls; her bill is timed right as Delaware’s Sarah McBride has become the first openly trans person to be elected to Congress.

Before beginning their discussion, The View watched a clip of Mace explaining the reasoning behind her bill. She says in the clip, “biological men shouldn’t be in women’s private spaces, period,” and confirms the bill is linked to McBride’s arrival to Congress “and more.”

Her words didn’t sit well with the Hot Topics table. Whoopi Goldberg, who accused Mace of “bullying,” said, “I don’t understand why this is her welcome to someone who is coming to make a difference in the country.”

Meanwhile, Sara Haines said, “It’s not a welcome. It’s flipping her the middle finger, because she is the one person in the House this will affect,” while praising McBride — who visited The View earlier this month — as “one of the most decent, amazing politicians I’ve ever seen.”

Haines then joked that she would be “more scared” of going into a bathroom with Rep. Lauren Boebert.

Even Alyssa Farah Griffin, who shares a political party with Mace as a Republican, came down hard on the congresswoman for her bill.

“Nancy Mace is trying to goad [McBride] into a fight she did not sign up to be part of, she’s trying to pigeon hole her into … this culture warrior,” Griffin said, slamming Mace’s actions as “gross” and “so unserious,” while suggesting she just “wants the clicks.”

As for Sunny Hostin, she brought it all back to Donald Trump, whom she accused of “otherizing people” and “demonizing people,” saying, “He ran his campaign against transgender people.”

Goldberg closed out the emotional conversation with a call for unity: “Be not afraid of your trans brothers and sisters,” she said.

“Take someone for who they are … don’t decide because you look a certain way, I’m not going to talk to you. Don’t worry about drag queens. They’re not worried about you!” she continued. “These are the things that we are not worried about here.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
