In fact, while the pair recently enjoyed a lunch together in New York City—where they were photographed smiling and laughing together—it turns out, there was nothing romantic about the Jan. 14 meet up.
“This was a casual lunch with a big group of friends in a group setting,” a source close to the situation confirmed to E! News Jan. 15, adding, “and by no means a date.”
Despite the lunch being strictly platonic, Sofía recently shared her goals for 2025 involve locking down a man.
While attending the Golden Globes on Jan. 5—where she was nominated for her work in Netflix’s Griselda—the Modern Family alum told Access Hollywood of her hopes for the new year, “Health, money, a boyfriend. Or a lover, maybe.”
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger,” she told Spanish newspaper El País in a 2024 interview three months before they finalized their divorce. “He wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”

Months after her and Joe’s split, Sofía was romantically linked to orthopedic surgeon Justin Salimanafter she underwent knee surgery.
“If u ever get major knee surgery make sure you get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!!” she shared on her Instagram Stories in April 2024 with a picture of him holding onto her bandaged leg. “Luv u Dr @jdsaliman.”
And while she and the doctor enjoyed a romantic vacation to Italy together in June, by October, the 52-year-old teased that she was once again on the market.

When asked whether New York City was the best place to be dating, Sofía told US Weekly, “Absolutely.”
“Actually,” she added. “I was talking about it because now I’m single. Kind of single.”
