What did RSM Classic third-round leader Sami Valimaki say after Saturday's round?
Sami Valimaki finished playing the third round of the RSM Classic on Saturday. After the round, he joined a press conference to share his playing experience and said that he had a comeback during the third hole of the tournament. He said (via ASAP Sports):
“It wasn't the start what I was looking for, but then of course kind of the turnaround on No. 3, hit a great shot over there and a few good ones from 6 to 9, so just nice little comeback. I didn't think they were in, but I was actually, I haven't had any claps this week so I knew when I heard the claps it should be pretty close. I feel like of course it started to come in more from the left. Like I mean bad tee shot on No. 10 and 13, so that kind of gave it away as well. Long clubs in from the fairway trap.” “I feel I still hit the solid shots. I feel like I knew it's going to be a little bit trickier, so I wasn't kind of too frustrated. I knew that 15 and 16 is kind of birdie opportunities, just couldn't make 16, but still decent back nine. I'm hoping a good start, I feel like that's kind of staying -- have a couple shot clear like end of the front nine would be great. Just try to make the birdies and know the guys behind is coming fast.”Sami Valimaki scored 19 under in total, two shots above Patrick Rodgers, who landed at 17 under in total. Valimaki scored 66 in the opening round of the tournament with four birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine. In the next round, he fired 62 with four birdies on the front nine and five birdies on the back nine. The last round saw 65 with five birdies on the front nine and one birdie on the back nine.
