The Post’s college football rankings, Heisman watch following Week 3

1. Texas (3-0) (Last week: 1)

Texas leaves Austin for the first time on Saturday to open SEC play at undefeated Tennessee. Albeit against a soft schedule up to this point, the Volunteers are fourth in the nation in rushing yards at 298.7 and true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon (nine total touchdowns) has looked worthy of the preseason hype.

2. Ole Miss (3-0) (8)

The Rebels’ next opponent, Florida, allowed 39 points to Auburn in a narrow victory. Trinidad Chambliss and Ole Miss could score 60 in Gainesville.

3. Ohio State (2-1) (2)

The Buckeyes responded to the crushing loss to Texas as expected: By beating the snot out of Kent State 59-3.

4. Notre Dame (3-0) (3)

In three games, the Irish have allowed a total of 171 rushing yards and forced eight turnovers.
