Peter Rosenberg has claimed that Nicki Minaj's verse in Kanye West's track, Monster, is the "most overrated" in hip hop history. The rapper was one of the artists who featured on the song, released on October 23, 2010.
Monster was part of Kanye West, aka Ye's, fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, released on November 22, 2010. It featured Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Bon Iver. HipHopDX labeled Minaj's verse "Verse of the Year", as the song won multiple other accolades.
Sharing his thoughts on the verse, Peter Rosenberg posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, December 22:
"Is today the day we can admit the monster verse is the most overrated verse in hip hop history lol?"Is today the day we can admit the monster verse is the most overrated verse in hip hop history lol?'
This came just after Minaj's appearance at America Fest 2025, an event organized by Turning Point USA, which was co-founded by the late Charlie Kirk. Hence, many users believe that Rosenberg's post shares his thoughts on her controversial appearance.
However, Rosenberg and Minaj have had a huge spat in the past as well. The TV show host and RJ slammed the rapper's song, Starships, in 2012, when he was with Hot97. This led to Minaj backing out of her headlining performance at the Hot97 Summer Jam that year.

On it, they talked about the Hot97 debacle, as the rapper backed out after Rosenberg's criticism of her song. He had called Starships "bulls**t" and "not real hip-hop", which led to Minaj canceling her show.
During their sit-down, the rapper said:
"In hindsight I shoulda just did the show. Because I've never allowed anyone to, no matter what I've gone through personally or whatever professionally, I've never allowed that to make me let my fans down. And even if it wasn't a Nicki Minaj fan, just a fan in general, somebody who paid to see the show, I think in hindsight I shoulda just came out, 'cause it's my hometown especially. And so I wish I would have come out and did the show, and I apologize for not doing the show."She even spoke about Rosenberg's career at Hot97 and claimed that she didn't enjoy his show or comedy, saying:
"To me, I just don't know your resume. I never found you funny, I never found you entertaining, I never found you smart, I just found you annoying. Because I grew up in New York, I've grown up on Hot 97... I was like 'who are you?' To me you don't have enough of a resume to make those comments, but you know, you did, and it is what it is."Rosenberg, meanwhile, clarified in another show that he would not be apologizing to Minaj as he just gave an opinion about a song. He claimed that it was not a "personal attack".
Meanwhile, Hot97 recently canceled their show, Ebro in the Morning, which Peter Rosenberg hosted with Ebro Darden and Laura Stylez.
