The making of the Liberty’s best rivalry

Rivalries are the backbone of sports.

Some are rooted in history, where bitter antipathy formed because of past experiences. Some are forged based on geography. Others are dictated by fans.

All come with a healthy helping of competition and plenty of drama. Those are the games both teams get up for, even in the regular season. They often push fans to the edge of their seats. Blows are delivered on the court, and verbal barbs tend to happen off it, too.

The Liberty have been part of some great rivalries — the Houston Comets, Los Angeles Sparks and Las Vegas Aces among them.
