The long road back to respectability has begun on the South Side

When it comes to baseball teams projected to be better than what they were in 2025, you cannot overlook the Chicago White Sox. They are coming off a 60-120 season, so it should not be too hard to improve, right?

Well, a full season of Colson Montgomery could certainly help their cause. Add to that what the front office did during the offseason, and things are starting to come together for this team.

They acquired Munetaka Murakami, which should help add some power to the lineup, and they also added Luisangel Acuna, Austin Hays, Erick Fedde, Sean Newcomb, Jordan Hicks, Anthony Kay, and Seranthony Dominguez.

The long road back to respectability has begun on the South Side

Chicago addressed multiple points of weakness over the winter, which is a good sign. They added power they very much needed, and while there were no big splashes, did bolster the starting rotation and bullpen.

While fans still should not expect too much yet, Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly believes they have done enough to top their 60-win record from a season ago.

"Make no mistake, this is still going to be a bad team from a wins/losses perspective, but they do seem to be moving in the right direction. It might not be many more, but the Pale Hose should be able to top 60 wins in 2026."

All fans can do is ask for the team to be better than the previous year. However, it may not hurt the fans to start paying attention to some of the talent the club has in the minors.

The White Sox now have five top 100 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline. So, while the team may not be a postseason contender this year, it may not be too far from that becoming a reality in the near future.
