With only a few more episodes left in the series, The Last Frontier season 1 episode 8 gives plenty of answers and confirmations on the show's existing conspiracies. Titled L'air Perdu, the latest installment in the Apple TV+ thriller drama unravels Sidney Scofield's backstory, her master plan, her motives, and her target.

The plane crash in The Last Frontier season 1 premiere is all Sidney's doing. She orchestrated it to kill Havlock because his death would trigger the dead man's switch, and Archive 6 will self-distribute, and with that, she can finally expose Bradford.

But with the plane crash plot unsuccessful, Sidney is left facing the consequences of her actions. She has put herself in Havlock's position as the one being hunted by everyone.

Frank is right when he said in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 7 that it was Sidney's plan to bring down the plane. The latest installment in the series details Sidney's secrets, from what she uncovers about her father and the dark choices she had to make in response to a gutting betrayal. The Last Frontier season 1 episode 8 kicks off a month before the plane in the premiere.

Sidney learns that her father's death was not an accident—it was ordered by none other than Jacque Bradford. It's the start of Sidney's life unraveling, with grief and fury making her someone capable of orchestrating a plane crash. While Havlock wants Archive 6 to use as leverage against the Agency, Sidney wants it to expose Bradford, and that's how their journey separates.

When Havlock is captured, she knows what the Agency is about to do to him. He's a dead man walking, and his death would be for nothing. In a misguided notion that Havlock is as good as dead now that he's captured, and that she could control his death and make it worthwhile, Sidney orchestrates the plane crash with Thiago's help.

She knows about the dead man's switch. Killing Havlock would activate it, which would then activate the Archive 6 to self-distribute and expose Brandford's crimes. What she doesn't anticipate in her original plan is that Havlock would be able to survive.

Sidney doesn't kill Havlock in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 8. While the plan was to kill him, it's no longer necessary as her original plan is useless. The Agency has cracked the dead man's switch, flipping the power dynamic, so killing Havlock wouldn't serve any purpose.

And because her purpose is not really to kill Havlock but to use his death to trigger a chain of events that will expose Bradford, she lets Havlock live. Sidney and Havlock's relationship may be a tangled mix of love and betrayal, but he still matters to her. However, now everyone has turned on Sidney. Bradford already knows that she's behind the plane crash, and so does Frank.

The Last Frontier season 1 episode 8: Where is the Archive 6 now?

Sidney may have her reasons for plotting to kill Havlock, and Havlock may have felt the heartbreak of the betrayal, but he helps her in the end. After crushing Sidney's hope that she still has leverage if she kills Havlock, he brings out his ace, the Archive 6.

It turns out that the Havlock successfully took a copy of the Archive 6 from the listening point in episode 7. He gives it to Sidney before she escapes, and Frank captures him. The Last Frontier season 1 episode 8 ends with Sidney in possession of Archive 6, but also not safe from everyone, including Bradford, who has all the resources and inclination to get rid of her like she did her father.
