The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 continues the conspiratorial action thriller set in the Alaskan wilderness. While one enemy is still running free, another one, called the 'Angel of Death', threatens Fairbanks while the town is already basking in darkness.
The series has been laden with questions more than answers since the plane crash in the premiere episode. And as Frank pieces evidence after another, The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 confirms one of the conspiracies—the plane crash was a sabotage designed to kill Havlock and every inmate aboard. No one was supposed to survive.
The co-pilot's testimony and Sidney's confession reveal that there's a much bigger betrayal at play. And Havlock, for all his faults, may be running around just looking for answers.

Does The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 confirm if the plane crash was premeditated?
Havlock in The Last Frontier (Image via Apple TV+)Much of the series so far has focused on the effects of the plane crash in The Last Frontier season 1 premiere and how it allowed dangerous inmates to break out and cause havoc in their town. However, the latest installment delves deep into why the crash happened in the first place, and it wasn't an accident as some might have believed.
The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 confirms that the crash was premeditated, a targeted assassination attempt on Havlock, aka Levi, and everyone who was in that plane was deemed expendable. The co-pilot who survives the crash and the Angel of Death's clutches confirms that they lost control of the plane while it was still going up. Everything was corrupted, and they didn't have any control.
Moreover, the hard drive Hutch retrieved in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 5 contains the malware used to take down the plane. The episode also confirms that the courier they believe Havlock plans to meet in Fairbanks, who will supposedly deliver the Archive 6, is instead a killer sent to kill him.
The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6: How is Sidney related to the plane crash?
Sidney's connection to the malware revealed (Image via Apple TV+)While Sidney is not directly connected to the JPAT aircraft's crash in the premiere, something she created was used to crash the plane. By Sidney's confession in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6, she once created malware that could be used to clone a random air disaster. She devised it to carry out an untraceable hit on a Chinese diplomat.
However, she tells Frank that the idea was shelved only for it to be revived and used to bring down Havlock's plane. What irks her is that the CIA's original plan appears to be killing Havlock and framing her for the incident, which may still happen because the FBI now has the drive containing the malware. They now have the evidence and the witness, the co-pilot, to pin it all on Sidney.
Another interesting bit in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 is how Havlock, who always appears to be all-knowing and steps ahead of Frank, has lingering questions about the crash and Sidney's involvement with it. A brief altercation with the courier shows his state of mind where Sidney is concerned, as he's asking the courier how much Sidney knows about the crash or if she knows about it at all.
Who is the 'Angel of Death' in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6?
Angel of Death (Image via Apple TV+)The first half of the episode deviates from the manhunt on Havlock and instead focuses on one of the other few inmates still on the loose. The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 introduces the Angel of Death, aka Dr. William Wigg. His moniker is an apt description of how unpleasant he is, a gifted doctor but also a sociopath and a serial killer.
He poisoned 36 patients and coworkers before. While it's unclear what his original motive is, his unsettling arc in episode 6 revolves around using the co-pilot as a bargaining chip for a safe deposit box. The box reveals Polaroids of his victims, including the son of the bank manager delivering the safe deposit box, his first victim.
While Dr. Wigg placates the woman with false apologies, it turns out that the bank manager knows who he is before she even gets on the plane to deliver the safe deposit box. She knows who he is and what he did to her son, and she came prepared, shooting him dead.
