The Boston Celtics blew a 20-point lead for the second straight night in their Game 2 loss to the New York Knicks in their Eastern Conference semifinals series on Wednesday night. Jayson Tatum struggled mightily for the C's in this one, and the release of his new "SUPERMAN" ad couldn't have come at a worse time.
Tatum simply did not have his best stuff in this one, as he scored just 13 points on 19 shots, while hauling in 14 rebounds and dishing out five rebounds. When the game was in the balance, Tatum committed a turnover on the Celtics final possession that allowed the Knicks to once again escape with a narrow victory.
With Boston staring at an 0-2 deficit as they head on the road to Madison Square Garden, the spotlight has been on Tatum after his ugly outing. Things weren't made much better when Tatum starred in an ad for the new "SUPERMAN" movie less than 24 hours after his woeful performance.

— DCU Updates (@DCU_Updates) May 8, 2025It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but the replies were flying in fast and furious on X. @backwardsball5 said what everyone was thinking; "Should have held off on this promo. Oof."
@urbannmedia was quick to note the irony of the situation, saying, "This hurts as a Knicks fan lol."
@kaezius thinks we could be in trouble if Tatum is Superman, saying, "Whole planet is cooked," in response to this ad.
Things certainly aren't looking good for Tatum and the Celtics right now, but this isn't the first time they have faced adversity in the NBA Playoffs. They will look to get back in the win column when they return to action for Game 3 of their series against the Knicks on Saturday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
