The ‘he played here?’ All-Stars: 25 stars you probably forgot played in New York

The Post recently unveiled the debut piece of its 25 for 25 series, in which staff members voted on the top 25 New York athletes of the past 25 years, headlined by Derek Jeter.

Those players are unforgettable, having made significant contributions to some of the most enduring teams in the city’s history. But it’s also amazing to think of how many stars came to New York during that time and quickly left, erasing the experiences from our minds.

With that in mind, I looked through a quarter-century of rosters for each of the area’s NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL teams (sorry, Devils) and put together the most forgettable New York tenures of the most notable names in sports. To be eligible, one must have played in only one season with the team and either been part of a losing campaign or made minimal contributions to the team, a la the Magic’s Patrick Ewing, the Rays’ Wade Boggs and the Seahawks’ Jerry Rice.
