Joe Rogan opened up about his early fears in comedy while speaking with country music star Miranda Lambert in the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Podcast.

The celebrated UFC commentator, podcaster and comedian was discussing public speaking with Lambert, and the country star shared how it was difficult for her to be part of a class that dealt with that.

She had no problems with singing, but when it came to speaking in public, it didn’t come as easily. Lambert further went on to say that being a comedian was one of the “scariest” jobs in show business, and Rogan agreed:

“That's kind of what I like about it, though. I like scary stuff because you'll have less people doing it. That's why I got into fighting. That's why I got into comedy.”

Rogan reiterated Lambert’s point of comedy being difficult and further went on to say it was tougher than fighting:

“The first time I ever did it, I was still fighting, and I'd done nothing but martial arts competition, like literally eight hours a day for my whole life for six years. And then I was more scared going on stage at an open mic night than I'd ever been fighting, ever.”

Rogan’s made a name for himself thanks to his comedy, apart from his TV and UFC appearances. The talented star doesn’t seem to be running out of any material, but shared some unnerving stories about owning comedy clubs.

Joe Rogan on the dark side of comedy clubs

Rogan has been in the comedy business for decades and has seen it all. The American was speaking to Pauly Shore on episode 1981 of his show and brought up the issues with owning a comedy club.

Rogan owns the Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, and highlighted the managerial issues of running a club:

"You don't wanna be some person, hoping that this guy shows up, that he wasn't doing coke last night, and he isn't on a two-day bender, missed his flight, or he didn't sleep in, or didn't, you know there's so many factors dealing with your livelihood if you're a club owner. And then you have, people get too drunk, they are crazy, they do this, they do that, they wreck their hotel room."

Rogan added that owners and managers have to solve problems constantly. While the UFC commentator wanted everyone to build relationships with comedy club owners, he claimed that starting one was too much work and should be avoided.
