Jets fans have been waiting for months to put the 2025 season in the past and start building a new roster.
Roster season has arrived with free agency this week — which brought a raft of additions on defense and a trade for quarterback Geno Smith — and soon enough, the NFL Draft will be here at the end of April.
The Jets are loaded with picks over the next two drafts, so general manager Darren Mougey should be able to turn the roster over by 2027. He has plenty of holes to fill in 2026, some of which are being addressed in free agency, but the largest volume of change really takes place in the draft.
The Jets have two first-round picks and two second-round picks this year, giving them four picks in the top 44. They need to come away from those picks with four starters. This is not about drafting developmental players for the future. The Jets need players who can contribute as rookies.
