The wait is over, and the result is fitting. As the Knicks make their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999, they’ll face the team they lost to that year after the Spurs defeated the Thunder in Game 7.
San Antonio finished with the second-best record in the NBA during the regular season after winning 62 games, and its bid for a fifth title this century will collide with the Knicks’ search for their first since 1973.

The rematch
These two teams met with something at stake earlier this year, when the Knicks defeated the Spurs in the NBA Cup final in December. Victor Wembanyama played just 25 minutes and came off the bench after returning from a left calf strain.
