Bo Bichette was noncommittal when asked by The Post’s Mike Puma whether he’d consider waiving his no-trade clause. It’s certainly an interesting case.
Though his contractual opt-outs and $42 million salary limit his trade value, Bichette received a $40M signing bonus in March, meaning he’s only owed $750K this year.
That doesn’t necessarily make him cheap. Bichette is likely to opt in following a disappointing first 100 games (.679 OPS), and he still has another opt-out after 2027, plus the unique and unpalatable $5M bonus he’d get for opting out.
A.J. Minter and Brooks Raley head a coveted Mets relief contingent, and it’s likely the team sells high on Huascar Brazobán. But it’s uncertain whether the Mets will trade setup star Luke Weaver, who’s under contract through 2027.
