It kept him up at night.
John Harbaugh has been there, done that with almost everything a head coach needs to concern himself with during his long tenure with the Ravens. He arrived in Baltimore in 2008 and had to assemble an entire coaching staff. Of course, he made changes and alterations in the subsequent years, but those tweaks were not comparable to the massive undertaking of putting together his first Giants coaching staff.
During his Jan. 20 introductory press conference, Harbaugh promised to search high and low in order to bring in the strongest staff possible. More than a month later, Harbaugh completed the task. He leaned heavily into proven NFL experience on offense and stressed personal familiarity on defense and special teams, seeking out those who once worked for him.
When all was said and done, Harbaugh hired 15 newcomers for the Giants who previously were with him in Baltimore. This was by design.
