On Thursday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon will not play for his team this season. He said that it was because of a foot injury he's been dealing with since the offseason.

"Sources: #Texans RB Joe Mixon is not expected to play this season as he deals with a foot injury from the offseason. Mixon likely remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list through the season. Meanwhile, Houston moves forward with Nick Chubb and Woody Marks," Rapoport tweeted.

However, the Texans running back came forward to discredit Rapoport's report on his injury situation ahead of the team's Week 12 game against the Bills on Thursday. Mixon shared a tweet on X questioning the insider's source for the information.

"Now, I get everyone's looking for splash news & clickbait... but I'm just curious, Ian how do you know more about me than me?" Nixon tweeted.

The Houston Texans placed Joe Mixon on the non-football injury list back in August. With him out of the picture, the team has relied on Nick Chubb and Woody Marks this season. They are currently placed third in the AFC South with a 5-5 record.

The Texans acquired Joe Mixon via a trade with the Bengals in March 2024. He agreed to a three-year deal worth $27 million with the team.

During his debut campaign with the team last year, the two-time Pro Bowl running back recorded 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns rushing. He helped the Texans qualify for the playoffs with a 10-7 record. However, they ended up losing to the Chiefs in the divisional round.

Texans GM Nick Caserio provides update on Joe Mixon's injury

On Wednesday on SportsRadio 610, GM Nick Caserio said that there was no update on the running back's rehabilitation process.

"It's not that I'm trying to be evasive, it's just a very gray situation,"Caserio said as per Yahoo Sports. "Joe's worked at it. There were times he's made progress and other times when the progress is kind of stalled. Players in his situation are on the reserve list until they are not. "Joe's doing everything he can. Obviously, we're getting pretty late in the game here, so I don't want to establish any sort of expectations."

With Nick Chubb and Woody Marks on duty, it wouldn't be a surprise if the team decides to let him rest throughout the entire season before re-evaluating his status next year. Both of them have been impactful on the field, recording 419 yards and two touchdowns rushing and 348 yards with two touchdowns rushing, respectively.
