Emmys 2025 Red Carpet: BLACKPINK's Lisa, Selena Gomez & More Celebrity Fashion
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are in a good place at the Emmys 2025.
After being honored with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the Sept. 14 ceremony, the longtime couple took the stage at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles to deliver a heartwarming speech that not only paid tribute to the prize's namesake comedian, but also Hollywood's next generation. "It's named after a man whose very name was hope, and that is what Bob Hope brought to people for 50 years as he traveled the world, entertaining our troops," Ted, 77, noted of the award. "There's no honor that would mean more to Mary and me than this one, and the fact that it's been given to both of us means the world."
The Good Place alum added that the prize is a testament of "our stewardship of what we've been given."
"A lot of people have come before us," he noted, "and a lot of people will come after us."
And for Mary, 72, the prize also reflects on her and her husband of almost 30 years' mission to spread love.
"If it's true that life is made up of two emotions, love and fear, the world's a little out of balance right now," the Melvin and Howard star continued. "We don't want to live in fear, so we make ourselves useful by working for organizations that move the scale away from fear and put use smack dab in the middle of love."

And that's why Mary would be remiss if she didn't give a special shoutout to her and ex Malcolm McDowell's kids Lilly Walton and Charlie McDowell, as well as Ted's daughters Kate Danson and Alexis Danson with Casey Coates.
She also thanked the couple's collect grandkids, which include Malcolm's baby girl Tove with wife Lily Collins.
"Thank you to our sisters, our children and grandchildren, who—of course—are the best teachers we've ever had," the Step Brothers actress added. "Most of all, thank you to you, our beloved community. Together, we have a sacred assignment to remind the world of its dreams, its failures, its laughter, its courage and most especially, its hope."
