The cost of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's potential Madison Square Garden wedding has received a staggering estimate.
Swift and Kelce are rumored to get married at Madison Square Garden, TMZ reported on Friday, June 5. Now, it's estimated that the wedding could cost about $20 million to put on the spectacular event.
“I would expect the cost of renting Madison Square Garden for a Saturday-night wedding to be approximately $1 million to $2.5 million before you even begin building the wedding itself,” luxury wedding planner Sonal Shah told The New York Post in a June 6 report.
“But for a celebrity wedding of this scale, the venue fee would likely be just a fraction of the overall budget.”
Shah has over a decade of experience in the wedding planning space and figures that there will be other costly aspects other than the venue that will come into play, like security and staff to start.
“A weekend night at one of the most iconic venues in the world is not just about renting the space — you’re also paying for exclusivity, staffing, security, operations, and the opportunity cost of a concert or sporting event that could otherwise be taking place,” she said.
In TMZ's report, Kelce and Swift have reportedly contacted NYPD as well as private companies for security. They will also have streets blocked off surrounding Madison Square Garden.
The luxury wedding planner predicts, “Once you add production, security, catering, entertainment and décor, a Madison Square Garden wedding could very realistically become a $10 million to $20 million-plus event.”
The couple has been dating for two years. Kelce proposed to the pop star back in August after they filmed her New Heights podcast episode announcing her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Swift and Kelce's wedding will reportedly take place on July 3, according to Page Six.
