ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai of Thailand is not giving up on his dream to achieve two-sport supremacy.
His quest hit a major speedbump last March, when he suffered a shocking upset loss to former ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Masaaki Noiri at ONE 172.
That humbling setback has raised questions about whether Tawanchai’s elite Muay Thai skills carry over under kickboxing rules.
Despite his recent struggles, the 26-year-old believes he’ll still join the promotion’s esteemed group of two-sport world champions.

After all, Tawanchai already showed he can hold his own in kickboxing with earlier victories over Davit Kiria and ‘Smokin’ Jo Nattawut under the ruleset.
Plus, he holds two stellar wins in Muay Thai over reigning ONE featherweight kickboxing king Superbon.
Now, Tawanchai returns for vindication in his crucial featherweight kickboxing clash with China's Liu Mengyang in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 137, December 19 at Lumpinee Stadium.
The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym product shared his main motivation during the ONE Media Day Thailand:
"Currently, I haven't set any goals in Muay Thai. I just want to become the kickboxing world champion. If I win this fight, we'll have to see what happens next."Watch the full interview:
Tawanchai comments on Liu Mengyang's upset win over Shadow
Li Muengyang earned his reputation as an upset specialist in his most recent outing.
'Spirit Dragon' halted Shadow Singha Mawynn's red-hot winning streak at ONE Friday Fights 126. The Chinese star also holds a previous victory over interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Masaaki Noiri.
In the same interview, Tawanchai spoke about Liu's latest victory:
"Liu Mengyang is very strong and durable, but I felt a little bad for Shadow, who made a slight tactical error. He carelessly traded punches at a moment that perfectly suited Liu Mengyang. But everyone makes mistakes."Watch ONE Friday Fights 137 live and free on watch.onefc.com and ONE's YouTube and Facebook pages.
