Task season 1 episode 4 will be released next Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 9:00 pm ET, only on HBO and HBO Max. Titled All Roads, the next installment will see FBI agent and task force leader Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) lead his team further into investigating the dr*g house robberies happening in their town, Cliff, and Sam.

However, following last week's revelation that someone in his team could be a mole, who is giving classified information to the gang called Dark Hearts, Tom's job will get trickier in Task season 1 episode 4. Meanwhile, Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey), the man behind the robberies, finds himself in a dangerous situation as his friend and ally, Cliff (Raúl Castillo), finds himself under the task force's eyes.

A brief recap of Task season 1 episode 3

In Task season 1 episode 3, Robbie and Cliff tried to find another way to dispatch the fentanyl after Eryn told them that she can't help him at the moment. Cliff led them to an ex-convict he knows, who has plenty of connections, Ray, but the latter ended up betraying them. Ray and his wife ransacked Cliff's home looking for the fentanyl, hoping that he could cash them on his own.

Meanwhile, Tom and the rest of the task force crack down on Sam and Peaches, and they found out that Peaches worked with Cliff on the robberies. They went to Cliff's house hoping to bring him in, but they arrived to find Ray and his wife ransacking the place. At the police station, Ray's wife confessed that Cliff had gone to ask for Ray's help about the fentanyl and that he was with another man.

Task season 1 episode 3 also confirmed twice that Jayson killed Robbie's brother, Billy. Joe also shared his suspicion with Tom that someone in the task force could be a mole after someone from the Dark Hearts was seen lurking outside of Cliff's house.

What to expect from Task season 1 episode 4

In Task season 1 episode 4, audiences are set to witness Tom and the rest of his task force continue to investigate Sam's kidnapping and Cliff's involvement in the robberies. However, with the latest development in the investigation, Tom will have to tiptoe around his own team.

Here are some highlights and possible plot developments to expect in the upcoming episode:

• After Ray's betrayal and arrest, Robbie and Cliff will have to find a way to dispatch the fentanyl fast. They have one lead, one name, from what Ray had told them before, but they have to do it on their own this time, no middleman.
• After overhearing what Tom said about her brother and how he couldn't forgive him for what he had done, Emily will have to find a way to help her brother by herself.
• The unnamed man with Cliff in Ray's house will be another point in Tom's investigation. Whether he finds out that it's Robbie in the next episode could be the highlight of episode 4.
• With the doubt that one of the task force members is a mole, Tom will be more careful how he proceeds with the investigation. Flushing out who could be the one feeding information to the Dark Hearts could be a highlight in episode 4.
