Training camps are in full swing around the NFL, and the return of football, especially during the dog days of summer, leads to football players dealing with injuries throughout early practices.
Some injuries are minor; others are caused by heat exhaustion. Regardless, any time a player goes down during training camp and doesn't move, there is cause for concern. That's what happened with 49ers' defensive end Tarron Jackson at Sunday's training camp practice.
About an hour into drills, it looked like a standard running play. All of a sudden, San Francisco teammates called for trainers as Jackson lay on the ground motionless. He finally started moving and was carted off before being put into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.

Tarron Jackson injury update
Many teams go on the road for training camp, but the 49ers stay local. San Francisco's training camp is held at the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara. While some players may enjoy getting out of town, the location worked out in Jackson's favor. He was taken to Stanford Hospital 21 minutes after he initially went down with the injury, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner.
Jackson was seen moving his hands on the ground. He was able to move his extremities and talk by the time he was loaded into the ambulance. Head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update, saying, "[You're] always scared when someone gets taken off on a stretcher. He's conscious, communicating with us, can feel all his extremities, and they're taking him down to Stanford now to start further testing. So, hopefully, we cleared the real scary stuff. We were close to him, so we could hear him talking and we could see everything moving."
Running back Christian McCaffrey added, "It's never good. You've just got to pray for the best in situations like that. It's definitely a reminder not to take any day for granted. You're in a non-padded practice and you get carted off. It's a serious sport and just pray for the best for him."
Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir said, "It's kind of hard because we all play in the same [sport]. When you see your brother down, you kind of put yourself there. We [are] praying for him and we hope everything is going to be all right and that he gets back to us safe and sound."
At this point, they haven't released what Jackson's official injury designation is/was.
