The former AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland cut a controversial promo during Dynamite this week ahead of Worlds End 2025. Swerve also defended his promo by reacting to fan criticism online.
On AEW Dynamite: 34th Street this week, Swerve Strickland gave a rebuttal to MJF after their controversial confrontation last week. While Hangman Page held Max in a chain, Swerve recalled how names like Wardlow, Adam Cole, and The Pinaccle got worse after being associated with him. Strickland also claimed that he makes his opponents better.
The promo received mixed reactions across social media. A fan on the X social media platform reacted to Swerve's controversial promo, asking who it actually benefits. Strickland took notice of the fan's question and reacted, saying that the promo benefits him:

Swerve Strickland on his decision to re-sign with AEW
Swerve Strickland decided to re-sign with AEW last year and continues to be a top star in the company. During his recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Swerve was asked what made him extend his deal with All Elite Wrestling. Strickland described the trust between him and Tony Khan played a big factor in his decision:
“Everything. Me and Tony Khan were bonding as well. I didn’t get that trust yet from him, and once I finally did, not only just to trust to do what I want on TV. I think people think it’s like, oh, just do what you want on TV. It’s like, No, it’s not like that. It’s trust to be like, I need something done on TV that will work. You’re the guy to do it. That’s a different trust," Swerve stated.It will be interesting to see if Swerve manages to win the All Elite Wrestling World Championship this weekend at Worlds End 2025.
