Suryakumar Yadav’s horror run continues as he perishes cheaply again in IND vs SA 2025 5th T20I [Watch]

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav once again endured a disappointing outing, falling for a single-digit score in the fifth and final T20I against South Africa. The match is being played on Friday, December 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The dismissal came on the first ball of the 13th over of India’s innings. Corbin Bosch bowled a length delivery around off stump, and Suryakumar attempted to loft it straight down the ground. However, the ball took the higher part of his bat and resulted in a simple catch for David Miller at mid-off.

The right-handed batter departed for just five off seven balls, leaving the hosts at 115/3 after 12.1 overs. The dismissal capped off a disappointing series for Suryakumar Yadav, who managed only 34 runs across four innings.

He ended the year 2025 on a poor note, featuring in 21 matches and scoring just 218 runs in 19 innings at a modest average of 13.62 and a strike rate of 123.16, with a highest score of an unbeaten 47.

Put in to bat, India’s opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson got off to a flying start, adding 63 runs for the first wicket in just 34 balls. Corbin Bosch provided the first breakthrough for the visitors by dismissing Abhishek for 34 off 21 deliveries, an innings that included six fours and a six, in the sixth over.

Tilak Varma then walked in at No. 3 and immediately played with intent. However, Samson was cleaned up by a peach of a delivery from George Linde for 37 off 22 balls, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav failed again, managing just five.

Hardik Pandya was promoted to No. 5 and announced his arrival with a six off his very first ball. He has since taken on the South African bowlers as Tilak raced to his half-century off just 29 balls. At the time of writing, India were 178/3 after 16 overs, with Tilak unbeaten on 59 and Hardik on 38 at the crease.
