Surprising trade update surfaces on Browns' Shedeur Sanders

A heated quarterback competition continues to go down between Cleveland Browns veteran Deshaun Watson and second-year signal-caller Shedeur Sanders.

Voices in the NFL are leading to believing Watson will get the start, with Browns reporter Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan saying on Tuesday that he's "seen nothing from [Sanders] that tells me he's leapfrogging Deshaun."

If that's the case, would Sanders be a potential trade chip for the Browns? That's a question that was addressed by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler during an appearance on ESPN Cleveland on Wednesday.

Shedeur Sanders could potentially be a trade chip

During a Wednesday interview on ESPN Cleveland, Fowler, an NFL insider, said that he also believes Watson is at the top of the quarterback battle after seeing him play in the Browns' preseason opener at the Chicago Bears on Saturday. Fowler also talked about a potential trade. When asked if it's possible Cleveland would be open to trading Sanders, he didn't rule the idea out at all.

"The Browns' front office and (general manager) Andrew Berry are value-based," Fowler said on the show. "They've shown that. If there's good value to be had in a trade, they will look into it."

He added, "Would Shedeur Sanders have trade value would be an obvious question we would all have. I don't know, or it's uncertain at this point whether the Browns would act on that or not."

So, while that's not saying 100% Sanders is getting traded, if the interest is there, Fowler believes the Browns would be open to the possibility.
